11 albums to look out for in 2019 // MUSIC

2019 is the year of the pop comeback with album releases from The Backstreet Boys, Busted and the current queen of pop Ariana Grande but not even the ‘Thank you, next’ singer has reached the top of my lil chart!

January 18

Maggie Rogers has announced her debut album ‘Heard it in a Past Life’ and includes the popular track ‘Alaska’ as well as her latest track ‘Light On’. The American indie-pop singer is currently on tour and dates include performances with Hozier and Mumford and Sons.

February 1

Beirut released the single ‘Gallipoli‘ back in October but February sees the release of their fifth studio album with the same name. The indie-folk album will include the singles ‘Gallipoli‘ and ‘Corfu‘.

February 1

Also pencilled in for Feb 1st is Nina Nesbitt’s album ‘The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change’. You can stream half the album now under the EP ‘Colder’. Nina’s UK tour is due to start in April and will be in Nottingham on the 9th of April.

February 15

10-year-old me is SCREAMING for Avril Lavigne‘s new album. ‘Head Above Water’ will mark 17 years since the release of ‘Sk8r Boi’ and after hearing her latest single ‘Tell Me it’s Over’ I’m excited for this mature, emotional album that will prove if it is really Avril or Melissa Vandella after all…

March 1

The Norwegian pop star Sigrid known for her chart topping bop ‘Strangers’ is to release her debut album ‘Sucker Punch’ with Island Records. Tracks will include ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ and ‘Dynamite’. Definitely one to listen out for.

March 1

March will see last years one to watch Tom Walker release his album ‘What A Time To Be Alive’. The album title are lyrics from the 2017 single ‘Blessings‘. Tom will be back in Nottingham too at the end of April.

March 1

Also on March 1 The Japanese House is releasing her latest album ‘Good at Falling‘. The indie-electronic artist’s album will have 13 tracks including ‘Lilo‘, ‘Follow My Girl‘ and the popular ‘Saw You in a Dream‘.

March 15

2011 saw the first album of Benjamin Francis Leftwich. The upcoming 2018 release ‘Gratitude‘ follows Benjamin’s classic soft acoustic tones whilst experimenting with some electric beats. Definitely a slight shift in style which is exciting!

March 29

The day we have all been waiting for will arrive when ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’ is released. Lana Del Rey helped me through years of teenage angst and we’ve grown with her music. Singles include ‘Venice Bitch’ and ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’ both soft sensual tracks – GIVE ME MORE!

April 5

Circa Waves are to release their third album ‘What’s It Like Over There?’ The rising success of indie-rock band includes that summer track ‘T-shirt Weather’ (refuse to listen to it until it’s actually t-shirt weather). Their latest single ‘Movies’ is a bop and a VIBE.

Although an exact date is TBC, The 1975 are due to release ‘Notes on a Conditional Form’. After the success of ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ and the beautiful tune ‘Love It If We Made it’, the bar has been set for the 2019 album.

Also due to come out in 2019 albums from: Dua Lipa, Hozier, Marina and the Diamonds, Miley Cyrus, Rhianna and my all-time favourite Vampire Weekend. It’s going to be a BIG year and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

Peace and love,
