How To: Edit an Instagram Photo

Hey moonshines,

It’s about that time that I share with you my secrets to photo editing. Although I’m not some sort of Instagram guru or famous fashion stylist/blogger etc. I thought it would be nice to let you guys know what I do to make my Instagram photos get to the standard of my kind of quality.

Obviously I don’t expect this to be the only way and that you can do what you like, but this is a free and easy way to make you seem ‘super cool’.

VSCO Cam is my favourite app for editing photos. For all the photos I post on this blog I edit with VSCO. I don’t ever take photos with my Canon because as much as I love blogging, I use my camera strictly for filming and creating stop motion animations.

My phone may not have the best camera in the world, but at the end of the day I only use those photos for entertainment with blogging, instagram and whenever I’m out and about with friends or work etc.

There are approximately 18 free filters you can edit with and a multitude of different features such as brightness, contrast, saturation, shadow save, grain etc (basically everything you need). The app is really simple and easy to use, plus it’s free! My personal favourite filters are A6, C1 and HB2 and I use it to edit every single photo on both my blog and Instagram.

Obviously the same filter will look different on different photos depending on the lighting, location etc. I take photos both inside and out so my photos will always look different. As much as I would love for my Instagram feed to match I really think that if people judge each other by their Instagram’s then there is something seriously wrong…

If you’ve got any tips and advice for me let me know, because just like you guys I’m always learning something new!

Thanks for reading as always moon shines!
Peace and love,
sig
